GLO#6: Effective and Ethical User of Technology

I grew up hearing, “If you don’t use it properly, you’re going to break it!” Being an effective and ethical user of technology, you can’t “break” the internet. However, you can misuse it, such as hacking or cyber-bullying, creating some pretty nasty consequences. To get the most out of digital and multimedia, you have to know how to use it properly, and what to respect. Technology is a powerful tool, which, if you use it effectively, can get your message across to as far as the other half of the world.

(As you can see, my GLO Portfolio is on a blog, showing my competence of using technology both effectively and ethically.... *hint, hint)

Animal Cell Music Video: Similar to the social studies music video, we had to write lyrics depicting a science concept. For this video we utilized a green screen, making it possible for us to chroma key out the background. Within the Final Cut editing suite, we were able to track images to our movements. We were able to show examples of what we were singing about, which helped to convey our science concept.

Meadow Gold Commercial: This commercial was made for the Retail Advertising portion of the Career and Technical Education Competition. This commercial promotes Meadow Gold's new drink line through a video advertisement, but without audio. This is an effective use of technology because it is advertising an honest company. Also, as we were creating this, we learned more about sales advertisements, and what is required in it.
