A complex thinker and problem solver applies learned concepts inside the classroom to life beyond school. They are conscious of their competence and are able to use this skill to solve problems. This is the proof of the public school system’s “Quadrant D” learning, because it requires one to apply the knowledge they have to solve a problem.
ExploraVision: This project challenged us to think 20 years into the future and create technology that would be in use in that time. To arrive at this futuristic idea, our group needed to conduct research on past and present technologies to gain a better understanding on how the future one would work and be improved. In describing the future technology, we implemented an dual ultrasound transducer to be the transmitter as well as receiver. We reasoned this because the two points in the same transducer would make a fine point, increasing the accuracy needed to target the needed areas of the brain. Quadrant D: This is the chart they show us at school saying "Quadrant D, where you want to be!" It represents that the work students are doing is challenging as well as relevant to the outside world. In this particular video we had to choose a class/activity inside of school to exemplify that these students were learning by Quadrant D. We chose ceramics because theres so many steps that need to be followed in order to have a finished piece. It is relevant because the final product is often something that the students can use at home, such as a cup or a bowl.
